There are plenty of dental emergencies that can arise at any point of time. Dental emergencies are something that you will want to deal with in the best way possible to ensure that they heal properly. This will then ensure that your smile stays in the best condition and always looks at its best. Here are four dental emergencies that could arise and how to deal with them:
- Toothaches: Toothaches can be really uncomfortable. This can make eating, talking, and drinking painful. When you are dealing with something like this, you will want to rinse your mouth with warm water. If this doesn't help stop any discomfort, then try flossing to remove any stuck food particles. Food particles that are stuck in between the teeth can cause discomfort. Just be sure that you don't floss up to the gums, which can cut them and cause more pain. If this doesn't work, call your dentist who can see what else may be the source of the toothache.
- Broken Tooth: A broken tooth is something that you want to handle with caution to ensure that it can be fixed by your dentist. Once a tooth has broken, you should call your dentist right away to see when you can come in to have repairs made. Once you have called, rinse your mouth with warm water and use a cold compress to help reduce swelling.
- Knocked Out Tooth: If you have knocked out a tooth, be sure that you find the tooth that has fallen out if you are able to. Once you have done this, you will want to rinse it with warm water. Just be sure that you cover the drain of the sink so that it doesn't fall down it. Also, don't scrub the tooth because you want to be sure that any tissue that is hanging on stays on there. This will help your dentist to more easily attach the tooth back into place. Call your dentist once you have the tooth cleaned and safely placed in a jar.
- Something Caught in Between Teeth: If you have something stuck in between your teeth that is causing you some irritation and that can't be removed with flossing alone, then you will want to call a dentist, like those at Image Dentistry. Never attempt to use anything else to get something unstuck in your mouth. This is because anything else that is sharp will just cause damage to the enamel of your teeth.
By knowing how to handle different dental emergencies, you can be sure that you don't cause any further damage and are able to resolve the issue before it becomes worse.Share
